LIGHTBOX 2

THE JUMPER

1) Well the one man knew that his wife had parished and I believe it has to do with beliefs and in his beliefs its more acceptable compared to the other family where they could be damned to hell for that.

2) No I don't think so that fact in itself is unimportant, finding out who it is really won't do anything. The image is important though showing the struggle and the desperation that they had.

3) No Since it is basically impossible to identify who the jumper is I don't believe so. It would completely different if the headline was the jumper's name and about his life. Like I said before the image is strong showing what they went through and their desperation.

4) She means that she doesn't want people to necessarily try and figure out who the jumper is and whether or not they knew him. Rather as in there emotions and if they were put into the scenario what would they have done. So in a way I guess picturing themselves as the 'jumper'

5) I think it was very good and very strong. Like the tomb of the unknown soldier this picture will also always and forever be unknown. Also like the tomb is that its almost like a sacred photo, being one if not the most powerful photo from 9/11

6) You will never get the full effect unless you see those images. If you just read about it and even if you watched it on t.v. you will never fully understand the desperation and the deaths of thousands. This photo really shows you how desperate the people got and that their final destination was already determined with no hope they would die either way and to them it was a choice slow and painful or fast and unpainful. To me the jumpers had no choice it was either that or burn, and that is why the people that died in the fire in the building could not morally accept themselves if they jumped because in their mind it was a form of 'suicide'
